At last, I come to a gate somewhat familiar…

Beyond that gate my eyes beheld a new place, where a crescent light hung in the sky, staining the land a sepia hue. The path I was on led a winding way through so many trees, I could barely see if not for the constant company of the moon. Everything felt so strange and still, like it was caught in a moment of suspense. Then, deep in the forest, a veil of fog wrapped its way around me, seemingly pulling me into its depths…
“I could not be—anywhere, within. A secret uncovered suddenly, behind purposeful stone of protection. Through the pale density my eyes perceived, barely…”
Spires above. I went, drawn to the door so tall standing atop steps carved out of stone. My longest moments between breaths could not compare to the stillness of my chest, as I pushed on the face of that which became—as my lungs filled with air—a mouth that swallowed me whole.
“So here I sit in this place, drifting through time. Having… ‘learned’ my keep from the candles that flicker and souls that linger for a while. And the windows… sometimes the pictures they paint on the tiles have color.”
I, Master. Occupant. Keeper.

Hidden in the deeper dark. Held in endless twilight. A place where in looking long enough, you may find the shadows looking back. Resting between here and forever, he cares for the souls of those lost and expired. He is here to show them the depth of life—to help them grow after taking the path of death. This small world, filled with the skittering and scuttling of small things and the glint of small eyes… in the everblack. All will find their way to the Keeper’s forest. All will stay until ready to once again let the eternal currents of life, light, and dark carry them.
You will change.
You will see. You will not know of this place until you arrive. Only then will the secrets of this realm be known. Waiting beyond the gate, for now it’s a mystery.
